thankful

Thanksgiving has come and gone. I can't believe how fast the year has gone by. Every year around this time I say that. "My oh my. Time sure is flying." Perhaps it is really moving at regular speeds. Either way I am trying to be more aware of what is happening in the here and now and not look to the future constantly. I have so much to be thankful for and I don't want the hours, days and weeks to sneak by without my noticing and appreciating them.

Since I last saw him (about 2 months ago), my brother has gotten so much taller! I am afraid he'll be taller than me the next time I visit. How did that happen?

Family tradition, visiting Blake's grandparents before heading to Thanksgiving dinner.
The darling Phoebe, my shiny, new niece, looking all cute in her pretty dress.

Me and mom playing with pocket photobooth!
I showed Caitlyn how to use the Cat ffects App and it provided quite a bit of entertainment.

And to end the day: hot chocolate, a round of Settlers of Catan and the movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Lovely.

a bit of rain

Today has been a day of rain here in Southern California. I love rain. Truly. I adore it. Especially when I have the day off. And today I was off!

Gingerbread latte! Yum.

After a rainy morning at church I took advantage of Starbucks' by one get one deal with the mister. He had to leave quickly for work but I decided to linger even though it meant walking home in the downpour. I actually liked that part. Also, I got lots of crocheting done. So all in all it was a lovely day.

new friends

After getting so many lovely compliments on my octopus scarf and several inquiries as to where someone else could get one I have finally added them to my shop!
The first one I posted sold within the first day to someone I didn't know! Definitely encouragement to make more. So I have. Currently there are two octopi in my shop and they are soon to be joined by three more! Hurray!

The last several times I have worn my octopus scarf out and about I have been lucky enough to have business cards on me to hand out. What a great way to promote my shop!

I love taking my supplies and camping out at a coffee shop to get lots done. I usually get to talk to a bunch of random people while I am working which is (almost) always fun.

Get one before it gets you!!

you’re not lame. life happens.

July 25th. That was the last time I posted a blog. I have thought about posting often since then. However, I have felt super duper lame for not posting a thing and thought maybe I just shouldn’t anymore. My wonderful and amazing husband recently asked why I hadn’t done anything here for awhile and I explained my lameness and his response was, “you’re not lame. life happens”. He also may have mentioned something about liking to read these and that made me feel pretty good. So, Blake, this one is for you.

Lots of life has been lived since my last update nearly three months ago (gah!).

Summer is already over. The heat remains but the calendar tells me it is Fall. I also am aware of the recent Fall-ness because our church, Anchor Community, is once again meeting at an Elementary school each Sunday instead of random parks. The Summer of Anchor underground was lovely.
We also have had several great small group get togethers. I love these people so much.

I created a new scarf.... and it is an OCTOPUS! I haven’t yet decided if I will try and sell it. It takes a lot of time and a bunch of buttons. But it is so gosh darn cute. What do you think?

Blake and I took my little brother shoe shopping for his birthday (and for the new school year). We both got a pair of Vans. Only after we left the store did we realize that we got the SAME SIZE SHOE! He is only 12 and 16 years younger than me and has already caught up! (Shoot! Now all of you math wizards can figure out my age!)

I helped through a baby shower for my lovely sister in-law... Phoebe should be here any minute!!

We went to the Buskerfest in downtown Long Beach and saw an amazing jug band preform and also the lead singer of one of our favorite bands, Delta Spirit.

Our friend Krista had an art show at school so we got to enjoy her wonderful installation as well as several other amazing galleries.

Blake and I followed an Etsy tutorial's direction to make our very own Van Gogh-esque dog drawings. Weird, I know.

I started making snowmen ornaments for the holidays... I had a bunch of beer bottle caps that I have been saving for who knows what and decided that I needed to do something with them or throw them out. This is what I ended up with. They are now available in my Etsy shop!

Oh... I also got glasses for the first time ever!
